Description: You are to create a virtual field trip on the topic of your choice.  You will need to identify a grade level and Mississippi CCRS standard in any content area that addresses this topic.  Once you have gathered this information, you will gather resources from the internet that would provide a virtual field trip experience for students.  It should be an interactive experience for the students.  You will present this information in a PowerPoint presentation using a provided format.
The goal of this assignment is to create a virtual field trip.  Virtual field trips allow teachers and students to visit locations all over the world without ever leaving their home or classroom.  By participating in these virtual field trips, students are able to deepen their understanding of topics, as well as provide experiences that some students may have never gotten to experience.  Make sure that you are creating an interactive, virtual experience for students. It shouldn’t simply be a PPT with information about a location.  Please review the rubric carefully to make sure your submission meets the requirements.
Grading/Rubric: Students will be awarded up to 30 points for the completion of their Virtual Field Trip. This assignment must be turned in using the provided template. Attached are some examples from previous students. They are meant to be a guide as to what is expected. You should not copy or duplicate them in any way. Also, please understand these are not “perfect” examples but should give you a better idea of the assignment.

CIE 304 – Virtual Field Trip (VFT) Assignment Directions

Goal: The goal of this assignment is to create a virtual field trip. Virtual field trips allow teachers and students to visit locations all over the world without ever leaving their home or classroom. By participating in these virtual field trips, students are able to deepen their understanding of topics, as well as provide experiences that some students may have never gotten to experience.

Directions: You are to create a virtual field trip on the topic of your choice. You will need to identify a grade level and standard that addresses this topic, as well as a children’s book (either fiction or nonfiction) that provides information on this topic. Once you have gathered this information, you will gather resources from the internet that would provide a virtual field trip experience for students. You will present this information in a PowerPoint presentation using the following format:
· Slide 1 – Cover Slide – must include the name of the topic, your name, and an image related to the topic.
· Slide 2 – Information Slide – must include name of topic, grade level, and an appropriate standard that supports this topic
· Slide 3 – Goals – What is your goal for students that attend this virtual field trip? Be sure to include what you plan to accomplish through this VFT.
· Slide 4 – Websites – Include a list of websites that you used to collect information or that will be part of your VFT.
· Slides 5 – Student Welcome – Use this slide as the first slide students would see that are participating in this VFT. Use graphics and text to welcome students and explain the VFT.
· Slides 6-9 – VFT Slides – Use these slides to include images and/or links to support your VFT. These slides should be considered the actual VFT that students will experience. You may choose to use the same website or may use multiple links.
· Slide 10 – Questions Slide – The last slide of your VFT should include 5 questions that could be asked of students as a “follow up” to the VFT they experienced. These questions should be specific to this VFT and students should be able to answer them based off of the VFT experience.

Let’s start with the basic parts of a plant. Flower : Attracts pollinators, like birds, bees, and butterflies. They also make seeds to be able to grow more plants. Leaf : They make food by allowing water and air to come and go through opening and catch energy from the sun, turning the air and water into food to grow. Fruit : The fruit comes from the flower after the pedals fall off and protect the plant’s seeds. Stem : The stem holds the plant up and passes food and water to the different parts of the plant. Root : The roots also help to hold the plant up. They also collect water and nutrients from the ground and store extra food for later. Now let’s listen to a story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNs8Zl_Km14 style.visibility ppt_w ppt_h style.rotation style.visibility ppt_x ppt_y ppt_y ppt_y ppt_y style.visibility ppt_w ppt_h style.visibility style.visibility style.visibility ppt_x ppt_y style.visibility ppt_x ppt_y
