BUS 5116 Operations Management – Group Project Overview
Groups will begin working together in Unit 2 and group work will span units 2 – 6. In Units 2, 3 and 5 your group
will be required to make decisions and justify those decisions based on a product or service chosen by the
group. Once all three parts have been completed, your group will craft the information into a final presentation
based on the product or service selected.
In Unit 2, each group will choose a product or service and will roughly estimate its market and customers. During
the three activities, groups will explore structural, infrastructural and competitive considerations and make
informed decisions for the chosen product or service.
Each of the individual parts should be submitted by one group member to the instructor for review; this will not
be graded. The final presentation must be submitted by each group member and will be graded. The group
members all receive the same grade.
You have been provided with two areas in the course to discuss and collaborate: A group discussion forum and
a wiki collaboration area. Only group members have access to these areas and will be able to see the discussion
you have and the work you do within these areas. You are also free to use tools outside of the course, such as
Google Docs, Yammer, etc. if your group chooses to do so.
Your final PowerPoint presentation is due in Unit 6. Once you’re finished everyone in your group must post a
copy of the final presentation in the Group Activity Submission area in unit 6.
Your PowerPoint content should look professional. Check all content for grammar, spelling and to be sure that
you have properly cited all resources (in APA format) used in the creation of the presentation.
