After consulting with the manager, you decided to monitor two variables to improve the processes in the small medical office:

Time it takes since the patient checks-in until the patient checks-out
Number of patients in the waiting room

Now that you have completed the statistical analysis of the data collected, you have to design the control charts that will be used to monitor the process performance with the two selected variables.
You will use the same initial data collected for these two variables that the manager provided previously.
Your third assignment is to design the appropriate control charts to monitor these two variables.

Introduction
Variable monitoring of the medical processes is one of the most effective ways to monitor the
improvement of serving process to patients. It is most effective way to track performance of
healthcare staffs and evaluate the efficacy of healthcare professionals in providing quality care. It
is important to identify variables for the monitoring system for medical process. The identification
of variables is capable to set parameter for the development of the performance of healthcare staffs.
Variables are efficient to provide quality care for each patient, effectiveness to determine
improvement of healthcare issues of patients after quality care and efficacy in maintaining
healthcare evidence for each patient regardless of their socio-cultural and economic background.
It is important to address and accomplish all related healthcare variables while monitoring
performance of medical processes. The primary data include analysis of variables, evaluation of
the previous performance of healthcare staffs and interviewing both patients and healthcare staffs
regarding the observation of quality care and respecting of diversity in patient care. The variables
and collected data must be evaluated properly before implementing a monitoring system.

Variables to use
Monitoring the variables is very important and it should be presented based on the
information need, hence, in this case, there would be a good chart to used. Below are the
variables needed to be controlled using specific control chart:
Time Data:
-Observations

– Time (minutes)
Patient Data:
– Observation
– Number of patients
These are the variables we need to control using descriptive statistics and probability plot .
Hence, these are the primary data is required to implement performance monitoring of medical
processes.

Collection of data
For the time data, the data will be collected on observing time it takes since the patient
checks-in until the patient checks-out. Meaning, there is monitoring and observation of time on
every patient will check-in and check-out. For the patient data, the data will be collected on
observing how many patients were there in the waiting room in a certain period of time. This
process will increase the security of the hospital and also increase the quality of monitoring
procedures.

Statistical Analysis
For both of the variables of Time and Patient data, I formulate separate Descriptive Statistics
to monitor its variables to know more about that data such as the mean and sample variance.
Also, created Probability plot for both data to see if its normality or not.

Also, we can create control chart for both data to see if the data controller, we can use
MR chart for data Time that takes patient checks-in and checks-out since its continuous data. C
chart for Number of Patients data since discrete data.

Conclusion
Based on the execution of statistical results for both two-given data (Time data & patient
data), we noticed that line chart gives accurate results. This is because, at the result, there is no
any problem indicator found. As we can see, there is no any values row above the mean, hence,
there is no violations happen. Also, there is no any values found in a row below the mean,
meaning, there is no violations. Therefore, as we can see on probability plot of time, it’s
normality since most of the dots on one line and p-value greater than alpha.On other hand, for
the number of patients it’s not normally distributed since many dots out of the line. I recommend
this all charts for controlling the variables for the data within the hospital for both time data and
patient data.
